You step off the airplane and you’re in a new country.

After gathering your suitcases and going through customs, there’s the excitement of a new adventure. A brand new place to call home. It might also be a little confusing and you’re probably really tired. Wouldn’t it be great if there was someone there to greet you?

At Bridges International our desire is to continually care for you. We welcome you into our lives, community, and homes. In many US cities, you will find students celebrating a Thanksgiving meal at the dinner tables of loving and hospitable American families. In Bridges, we hope to be your home away from home.

We would love the privilege of getting to welcome you into the U.S. from the moment you arrive.

Airport Pickup

Arriving in a new country can be exciting but also overwhelming. After your flight, wouldn’t it be great to see a friendly face?

We’d love to greet you and help you feel at home from the moment you arrive.

Settling In

Need essentials like a desk, bike, or shower curtain?

We can help you find what you need and show you where
to shop.

One year in Philadelphia, Bridges International hosted a free furniture store for new students.

Transportation

Need a ride? Navigating a new city can be tricky, especially without a car.

We’re happy to help you get around and explore your
new home.

Washington DC staff can be found riding the bus with newcomers for the first time, showing them around!

NAVIGATING A NEW CULTURE

Curious about phrases like “raining cats and dogs” or “y’all”?

We’re here to help you practice English and feel confident
in conversations. Many of us have lived overseas too — we get it!

At Kansas State University, many students have grown confident in conversation during Chai and Chat meetings, while NC State has paired up many international students with Conversation Partners.
