Pastor Scott Mehl
Scott pastors Cornerstone Church of West LA where he has served since 2005 as a founding pastor. His ministry focuses include preaching, counseling, leadership development, and church-wide vision. Scott’s wife (Lara) and their four kids find it a joy to call West LA their earthly home. Scott also serves as the Managing Director of the Institute for Biblical Counseling and Discipleship (IBCD) and as a Fellow with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). He speaks and writes regularly on topics related to counseling and discipleship and is the author of Loving Messy People and Redeeming Sex in Marriage.
Lauren Pottenger (Destino Mission Director)
Lauren stepped into the Destino Mission Director role in 2023 after serving as Team Leader of the Destino North LA Team for 7 years. She and her husband, Kai, have been on staff since graduating from UCLA in 2008 and live in the Inglewood neighborhood of LA with their 3 kids: Micah (12), Claire (9) and Caz (6). Lauren’s highlights on staff include closely partnering with local Cru Campus and Inner City teams, shepherding teams of diverse staff status and cultural backgrounds, and helping lead the Destino North Africa Partnership and Destino West Coast Fall Retreat teams. Lauren is passionate about crossing cultures and proclaiming the goodness of God to the marginalized. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, going to the beach, traveling to new places and eating delicious food from around world.
